Composer's note:
This piece of music was written for my fiancée, Hailey.
Much like a real bouquet, Spring Bouquet is an arrangement of four flowers - each being a movement of the piece. This flower arrangement takes inspiration specifically from the flowers adorning my home throughout the spring. It was during the Spring of 2024 that I proposed to my now fiancée, and the movement named Daisy was written with her as my muse. Daisies symbolize true love, and though it may be cliché, I wanted this flower to be this movement’s namesake. Our wedding is planned for the Spring of 2025, and the associated feelings of love and marriage during this stage of my life shaped the movement named Peony, giving it a tone like that of Pachelbel's Canon - a piece commonly associated with marriage. White peonies in particular often symbolize youthful love and new beginnings.
Falling in love was an exciting rush of emotions and feelings, and the third movement of the bouquet depicts just this. It is quick, exciting, passionate, and it is named Daffodil - a flower known to symbolize new beginnings. Movement four, Hyacinth, juxtaposes the previous movements, shedding light on both the hardships and beauty that can be found in love. Similar to the other flowers, hyacinths are often associated with love. However, depending on the color, hyacinths can symbolize wisdom, joy, and even sorrow. This movement depicts a passionate, unconditional love that overcomes all.
